The accidental laws of physics, the absoluteness of time, behind everything lies concealed an elegant mathematical formula. The world we see is but a convenient and simplistic approximation, its true nature only revealed in riddles and abstractions. It is from this perspective and a history in architectural design that Robert draws inspiration.

As for the subject of the ocean wave, it represents not just physical beauty and force but also a progression in time; a long languid journey from afar, a chaotic deconstruction… then nonexistence.

And as for the subject of “time” itself—an abstraction as omnipotent and poorly understood as this is surely a subject deserving artistic reflection, even if fully unresolved.

Robert Bickel’s show opens this Thursday at Gigantic.

Gwen by Ian “South Bend” Seniff. Gouache on paper on wood. As part his show Silver Age, showing at Gigantic Gallery through April 29.

If you haven’t read about Gwen Stacey’s death, it’s a pretty big deal. Some people see it as the end of the Silver Age, as heroes and narratives became darker and grittier in the Bronze Age.

Not only is the composition great and the colors gorgeous, but Ian used the same typography as was used in the comic.

Alright ladies and gents… this weekend is our first ever sidewalk sale! Paintings from our current show by Ian Seniff will go on sale as well as our stock of prints and posters from previous shows. We will be outside kickin’ it in the sun with Little Things whose trunk sale starts Friday and who will also have a bit of a sidewalk sale of their own. Stop on by for art and jewelry! Is there a better combination? Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 12-4.

Not in town? Just send me an email if you are interested in ordering something: shannon@giganticgallery.info and make sure to check out all the pictures from the current show on our webpage or our Facebook page.

Aaron by Ian “South Bend” Seniff. Gouache on paper on wood. As part his show Silver Age, showing at Gigantic through April 29.

Aaron Stack, AKA Machine Man, AKA Z2P45-9-X-51, is a Jack Kirby creation, spun off of his comic adaptation of 2001: A Space Odyssey. He is a sentient robot—the only one of his series not to go mad from sentience, in part because he was raised as a human son by his creator. He was also exposed to the wacky radiation of a monolith. That probably helped some too.

Captain America by Ian Seniff. Special points for those of you who can name the model.
